“World level environmental disaster was Chernobyl accident the night of 25 to 26 April 1986. The accident led to unprecedented pollution of the biosphere, radiation exposure of thousands of people, appearance of the 30-kilometer „exclusion zone“ on the territory of Ukraine, the mass migration of people from contaminated areas to other regions of the country. Only direct costs of Ukraine, which had to take on the eradication of the disaster at the power plant completely by itself, which was subordinated to the Union Office, in 1988-1990 were over 20 billion rubles. But this does not solve the problem and for a long time, Ukraine will allocate billions to eliminate the consequences of Chernobyl, the protection of those who suffered from it.
